Hyval is a secluded coastal country retreat on the west of the Orkney mainland. It is situated on the north side of the Bay of Skaill, and overlooking the world heritage site of Skara Brae. The farm is run by an Orcadian family who have been there since 1980. We run a beef farm with a herd of cross bred Charolais and Simmental cattle with quality assurance credits on animal approved schemes.
The farmhouse is a two-storey building which was built in the early 20th century. In 1996 the house was upgraded to a five-bedroom accommodation. On the ground floor there is a guest sitting room for use in the evenings, it has a wide screen television with sky viewing. There is also a collection of Orkney books for your reference. A dinning room/conservatory with excellent views over the farm lands to the cliffs and the old man of Hoy. On the second floor there is a twin room and two double rooms all en-suite, with central heating, colour television and tea coffee facilities in each room.
Margaret has been in the tourism business for several years. She will assure you of a very comfortable and relaxing holiday. While you are here you will be in a perfect situated to see all that Orkney has to offer.
